Excerpts from an interview that appeared in YOGASTUDIO Mill Valley's The Prana newsletter, February 2003.

When did you discover yoga and how long have you been practicing?

I discovered yoga when I was in college at U.C. Santa Barbara almost ten years ago now.

I kept hearing about how wonderful yoga was and knew it was something I wanted to try. I ended up moving to a house about three blocks away from the Santa Barbara Yoga Center and knew that it was time to give it a try.

I fell in love after my first class. The effects of the practice were so instant and profound. I quickly made it a regular part of my schedule and marveled at the way it was effecting my life.

On a physical level I was stunned, never would I have thought that standing still and holding poses was going to be so difficult and strengthening. But equally as amazing were the ways in which the rest of me was changing.

Not having taken an intro course I had no intellectual understanding of the process of yoga- but I was having the direct experience of yoga! I left class feeling more grounded, connected, self confident, and accepting. I never stopped going to class from that day on.
